Shamwari

We decided to show Paul a few smaller towns and drove up to Oudsthoorn and then across on the R62 through Kareedouw, through the Addo Elephant Park to Shamwari. I had emailed Paul the links to a number of different Game Reserves throughout SA and he replied almost immediately that Shamwari was his choice. We spent 2 nights of absolute luxury in the reserve with gourmet food and wine on tap, a couple of game drives a day and seriously impressive rooms, overlooking the pool and reserve. Paul hadn't really been on a game drive through a wild reserve before and he was stunned by what we saw. So were we.

Cape Town

Our first weekend with Paul, our UK mate, was spent in Cape Town. Paul had booked the accommodation and we stayed at Long Street Backpackers which was cheap (relatively) and nasty but really well located. Jacks and myself hadn't spent much time in Cape Town, especially not in the city centre, and we were amazed at the vibe. We showed Paul around a bit, walking through the city, the waterfront and driving out to Simonstown, Cape Point and to a few wine farms.
